The glass ball carries a plaid pattern around its full surface, so the crossing lines catch the lights from every angle instead of only from the front. It comes in three sizes: the Small at 3.25 inches and the Medium at 4 inches are sold in sets of six, and the Large at 4.75 inches comes as a set of four. Buying by the set is what lets you repeat one pattern through the whole tree instead of scattering singles, and mixing two sizes keeps the repetition from looking flat. The pattern is traditional enough to sit with tartan ribbon and old glass, and graphic enough to hold up on a plain tree.
