Carved from oak, the rack holds ten bottles in rounded openings framed by continuous, flowing edges, so the grain does most of the visual work and the bottles do the rest. It's a countertop piece, 20 inches long and just under 8 deep, and it sits flat rather than mounting to a wall, which means it can move from kitchen counter to sideboard to bar without tools. Ten bottles is enough to hold a week of dinners or the wine you are saving for the holidays, all of it visible at a glance. Oak is dense and forgiving, so it takes the occasional knock from a bottle without complaint.
